I have the honour to transit for your

consideration the correspondence noted in

the margin with reference to the acquire-

ment by the, Admiralty of certain land on

a small promontory to the Westward of Lai-

chi-kok, for the establishment of a Torpedo

Range, and to request your sanction for the grant to the Naval

Authorities free of charge of the site marked'c' on the plan

which accompanied the Commodore's letter No. 287 of the 14th.
